Providing stigma-free mental health support, grounded in science and led with care

I’m Naomi Varricchio (she/her). Welcome to Enlight.

I am a Clinical Social Worker in the province of Alberta who has been providing talk therapy and assessment services to individuals and couples for twenty years.  I have worked in mental health care settings and in private practice. I also have experience supporting other therapists in their practice.

I have always endeavoured to find the most effective ways to assist clients through mental health and situational challenges. Working extensively with Complex Post Traumatic Stress has deepened my understanding of how the brain and body cope with intense stress. As a result, I’ve gained a clearer awareness of how we can work with our bodies and minds to function as our best selves.  We all experience stress and trauma and while we are all unique, our bodies share similarities in how these difficulties show up.

I’m trained in a number of modalities, tailoring my approach to the presenting and evolving needs of those I’m working with.

I welcome clients seeking assistance with a range of concerns such as depressive symptoms, anxiety, life stress, relationship difficulties, and trauma.

I am committed to demystifying mental health information and to empowering clients with accurate information in a supportive, compassionate environment.

What to Expect When Working with Me

Respect and Empathy

We’ve all had the experience of asking for help only to be dismissed, misunderstood, or judged when we’re at our most vulnerable. Expect care and compassion in an inclusive environment.

Exploration and Personalization

My approach and the pacing of our sessions will be based on you and your needs.

We’ll talk about your experiences, your perspectives, and the barriers you’re currently facing. I’ll suggest ideas and approaches based on recent findings in the mental health field. Expect your input to play a major role in the practice we develop together, because no one knows you better than you do.

Structure and Direction

Sometimes talking isn’t enough. When appropriate, we will create home practice for you to work on between sessions.  Clients often report structured practices help give them the traction they need to make progress.
